Product History/ Misc. Info Gouda Goat Cheese is exported from Drente, Holland's most rural and agricultural province. Drente is known for its vast fields of wild heather where goat herders graze their flocks. Here, on family farms, the art of raising goats and producing fine goats milk cheeses has been cultivated into an art for more than 200 years. In this region the cheese making is still done the traditional way. Wooden forms and shelves are used in shaping and ripening of the cheese. These wheels are then turned by hand every day. This process allows the moisture to slowly evaporate, producing the ideal flavor and texture of the cheese. After 30 days, the cheeses are vacuum packed to preserve the freshness. The result is a pure, white cheese, smooth, sliceable and, unlike other goat cheeses, very mild tasting. Even people who don't like goat cheeses like our Gouda Goat Cheese because it is so mild tasting.
