| Product History/ Misc. Info | Named after the city of Gouda, where they first made this cheese. This cheese is known in the U.S. as Red Gouda because it has a red wax. The wax is put on the cheese to keep the cheese from losing moisture, halting the aging process and preventing it for mold while it is shipped and stored. There are only two countries in the world that import Red wax Gouda; the Canary Islands and the U.S.; all the other countries import only yellow waxed Gouda. |
