Kruegermann Duitse Groenten in Potten
Four generations ago, Carl Krüegermann went to the small German town Luebbenau. Luebbenau is located 60 miles southeast of Berlin in the beautiful countryside known as the Spreewald (Spree-forest). Today the Spreewald is one of the largest tourist destinations in eastern Germany. A low laying agricultural region with fertile soil, good water supply and excellent weather conditions, the Spreewald became reknown for the abundance and quality of cucumbers, cabbage, red beets and horseradish crops. Fermented pickles, fresh packed pickles in vinegar, sauerkraut, red beets and pickled horseradish became the culinary art of the region. Even to this day, Spreewalder gurken (pickles from the Spreewald region) are known for their taste and quality which people would pay a premium for.
Kruegermann company celebrated a 100 year anniversary in 1996 and hope to continue a tradition for many generations more.
