Kruidkoek/Gingerbread Cake

This wonderful dried mix helps you create great tasting gingerbread cake. All you need to add is ¾ cup/175 ml milk and 1 tbsp of butter. This mix weighs 500 grams and some of the ingredients are rye flour, dextrose, sugar, dehydrated fruit, wheat flour and various spices.

Preparation:

  • Preheat the oven to 375F/190C.
  • Grease a 10” long cake or loaf pan.
  • Empty the mix into a large bowl and add the milk, stirring constantly.
  • Use an electric mixer to create a smooth dough and put it in the greased pan.
  • Bake for approximately 1 hour, until the cake is brown and done.
  • Let it cool off for a few minutes and then slide it out of the pan onto a rack so it can further cool off.

Variation:

Add 3.5 oz/100 grams of chopped almonds or candied peel.
